Who else is getting their outdoor spaces ready to start socializing again this summer!? Whether it’s for happy hour on the porch, a picnic with your people, or just a casual night by the fire pit, new outdoor patio decor for summer will add some fun to the season!
^^ our porch with new rocking chairs ^^
Happy Memorial Day!
Last year, we finished our shiplap screened in porch, but then we weren’t able to share it with others as much as we had hoped. (Especially since the only way to access it is to walk through our kitchen.)
We definitely broke it in as a family, and have spent so many hours enjoying our outdoor space for happy hours, family dinners, afternoon reads (and naps), and more. I think it’s fair to say that this renovation quickly became my favorite spot in our home.
Now that summer is nearly here (and we’re fully vaccinated), I’m planning to do some hosting on the porch for the first time!
I love the shape, feel, and fit, but I wasn’t crazy about the wood color. I am still not crazy about the wood color, but we decided to keep the chairs. Moving our furniture arrangement 90 degrees and bringing our coffee table out made me like them a lot more!
We moved the couch
We also smushed the couch into the corner for cozier lounging and used the ottoman to make it an L shape. Our couch is the Palmetto All Weather Wicker from Pottery Barn in Honey. (Pottery Barn is having a big warehouse sale this weekend, FYI!)
And finally, our West Elm coffee table that we LOVE has been in the basement since Birch learned to walk. We haven’t put it back in the living room not because the boys love to jump on that couch and it’s just a little too worrisome that they’d fall on it. Out here it’s not as big of a concern (this couch is not bouncy!)
So we moved it out here! And it’s perfect. I love this furniture arrangement so much more.
More Porch Inspo
I have everything on our porch linked in this post, but I also rounded up some other practical outdoor patio decor for summer.
Of course most of it is neutral (because that’s how I roll), but that makes it even easier to add your own flair with patterns and pops of color. Check out my friend Ellen’s colorful screened porch for decor inspiration.
There are lots of sales happening this weekend too, so get your backyard ready to roll!
Outdoor Patio Decor For Summer
3-Piece Cushioned Woven Rocking Patio Seating Set – A Target find, this set is absolutely stunning! The fluffy white cushions on the seats and back add stylish contrast to the brown woven design. While I wouldn’t choose white with kids, there is a black option too! I love this casual set too (the same company who made our rocking chairs.)
Miami Rectangle Outdoor Patio Picnic Dining Table – This rectangular table is surprisingly affordable (~$200). Add the chairs of your choice to match your personal style.
6 Person Wood Round Patio Dining Table by Studio McGee – If you’re looking for a round table (like we have), this 6-person wood round table from Studio McGee’s Target line is simple yet lovely. I love all everything in her line!
Tray Top Patio Accent Table – This sweet little white and black accent table is multipurpose: use as a plant stand or place it next to a comfy chair to hold your iced tea and stack of books.
Pottery Barn Metal Bar Cart – This metal bar cart from Pottery Barn is all sorts of sophisticated. If it’s not in your budget, I really like this neutral wood bar cart for a fraction of the cost via Amazon.
Rocking Chair – Consider the other colors of our new rocking chairs: grey and light wood with a modern design or white cushion. Bonus: on sale for Memorial Day!
Indoor/Outdoor Neutral Stripes Rug Gray – You know me and my love for neutrals. This grey and white striped rug immediately caught my eye. It comes in a few different sizes, too.
Indoor/Outdoor String Lights – A string of lights can elevate the vibe of any outdoor space.
Citronella Candle Set – The only pesky things about outdoor patio/porch hangs is the bugs, right? This stylish Hearth & Hand 4-piece citronella candle set is less than $20.
Glass & Metal Lanterns – If you’re clueless on where to start with outdoor decor (hopefully this post helps), simply add a couple of lanterns and the vibe will start to come alive.
Concrete Planter – Going with the neutral theme through and through, plant flowers or greenery in few of these concrete planters to add a little life to your outdoor arrangement.
Yukon Throw Blanket – If you’re in a part of the country that has chilly nights!
Performance Rugs – If you’re looking for a beautiful indoor/outdoor rug, Serena & Lily’s are stunning and the whole store is 20% off this weekend!
Offset Hanging Market Patio Umbrella – If your outdoor umbrellas have seen many sunny summers, it might be time to switch out the faded and worn umbrella for something stiff and new.
Golf Cart Pool Float – Lucky enough to have a pool in your backyard? This pool float is fabulous! I think Bald Head Island needs one.
Solo Stove – We splurged on a solo stove over Black Friday because it’s (mostly) smokeless. We love it, and it has such a sleek look. I also found this 24-inch Outdoor Patio Fire Pit Bowl for $50 if you’re being mindful of your budget.
Waterproof Outdoor Blanket – For picnics in the yard! Don’t let soggy grass ruin the day.
Pottery Barn Outdoor Lawn Bowling Set – Don’t forget about lawn games! This black and white bowling set is something my kids would go gaga for : )
Picnic Cooler Backpack – Pretty and preppy with an extra holder for vino!
Share some links to pics of your outdoor patio/porch space!
Now that the upper porch is pretty much set, we need to get our ground level patio spruced up for summertime.
